Most Unity minimap tutorials tell you to use a secondary camera rendering in real-time. But rendering your whole world twice every frame is a big performance overhead for an open-world game.
In this devlog, I show you my optimized approach: "Baking" the map into a static texture once at startup, and using normalized coordinates to track player and enemy icons on the UI canvas. Zero overhead, maximum FPS.
