Notable Viking leaders like Sven Forkbeard and his son Canute created a vast empire. The Viking influence persisted through their integration into local cultures and continued presence in regions like Scotland, France, Russia and Constantinople, culminating in the epic battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings.
