The Open House "Shedding Light on What Works: Economic Inclusion for Refugees and Host Communities" emphasized the critical importance of context when designing and implementing programs for displaced populations, highlighting factors such as mobility and access to market opportunities. It stressed the importance of starting with a theory of change, actively engaging with the target population, and continuously adapting programs based on robust data collection and monitoring.
The session was moderated by Samantha Carter, USAID's Senior Advisor at the Office of the Chief Economist. The panel included Rita Larok, Chief of Party of AVSI's Graduating to Resilience Activity; Marcus Holmlund, Research Manager at DIME's Economic Opportunity and Fragility; and Line Astrom, UNHCR's Livelihoods and Economic Inclusion Senior Officer.
