FEMA Trailer Complaints - House Oversight Committee - 2007-07-19 - Product 200032-1-DVD - House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight. Witnesses testified about problems with high formaldehyde levels in the travel trailers and manufactured homes provided to Gulf Coast hurricane victims by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Testimony about the possible safety problem and FEMA's response was heard from residents of FEMA trailers, health experts, and FEMA Administrator Paulison. Formaldehyde is a chemical used in building materials that can be carcinogenic if inhaled at certain levels. Dr. Scott Needle, who evacuated from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, is the author of Disaster Preparedness Plan for Pediatricians, published by the Mississippi Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
