In this episode Brendan, Jeff and I attempt to gain the summit of Little Bear Peak in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Colorado. This 14er is often referred to as the Bad Boy of the fourteeners. Sitting at 14035 feet above sea level it is one of the harder 14er's to summit. The notorious "hourglass" is where most turn back. It also has one of the greatest prominences of all the highest Colorado peaks.
After a long and steep hike up a vicious 4-wheel drive road we set camp at Lake Como. It sits nestled in a high alpine cirque just below three 14er's. They are Ellingwood Pt, Blanca Peak, and our destination...Little Bear Peak.
I inserted a short clip this time talking about most of the gear I brought. We were not sure if there was going to be any snow or ice but upon arrival at the trail head we decided to leave traction devices behind. The following are some items I didn't mention...
Big Agnus Seedhouse 1
Thermarest foam pad.
Optimus Weekender HE stove
Gregory Baltaro 65L pack
All clips were shot on my GoPro Hero 5 black and a DJI Mavic Mini.
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it and would love to hear your comments. You'll just have to stay tuned to see if we actually make it.
Happy Trails everyone.
