A toaster? Well, it certainly looks like one and it can get very hot but this eBay find was actual a vintage series resistor that allowed a 110V device to run at up to 250V mains voltage. In this video, I modified it slightly to make it a convenient load resistor that can do quite a number of values from 2.2 Ohm (1.1 Ohm by using two 2.2 Ohm. in parallel) to 30 Ohm.
