RED DEAD ONLINE has (as of 5/14/2019) added some pretty welcome anti-griefing options . There's HOSTILITY, which makes griefers bigger targets and is a minor change, and the addition of OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAY STYLES.
These options (which are found in the ONLINE SETTING by pressing "LEFT" on the D-pad. TAP, don't HOLD.) give players more ways to get out of freeroam pvp if they want. Offensive is the standard setting and what you start out as, while DEFENSIVE is what you have to switch on. When you switch to DEFENSIVE, this happens:
DEFENSIVE PLAY STYLE:
-YOU cannot be targeted by AUTO-AIM
-YOU cannot be lassoed, melee'ed or executed
-YOU take less damage from getting shot at and don't take critical damage.
-YOU are automatically left out of PVP free roam missions and can't participate in PVP free roam missions.
-If you attack another player while in DEFENSIVE you immediately switch back to OFFENSIVE and gain a large HOSTILITY PENALTY.
