Exploring Cypress Island Nature Preserve and Alligator Holding

The kids and I explored Cypress Island Nature Preserve in St. Martinville, Louisiana. Although it was a short exploration due to damage to the boardwalk, it was good none the less. We viewed the swamp, bayou, and all the water/marginal plants around us. After we came upon the broken section of boardwalk, and saw the other trail was a trek through tall grass, we decided to call it and try to find another adventure. As we were driving we saw a billboard on the border of Louisiana and Texas for free baby alligator holding at the Gator Chateu! We couldn't say no to that. I got scared out of my wits when the gator wriggled. I'm a tough cookie but when a gator moves like that, it's a visceral reaction.
