VW T5 Camper Conversion Project Part 4: Replacement Ply Floor, Insulation & Altro Flooring Install

This video is part of a series converting a VW T5 Transporter from a mechanics van to a DVLA registered campervan. This video covers the removal of the old oil soaked plywood floor, the creation of new plywood floor, the installation of insulation both beneath and above the ply and finally the laying of some altro safety flooring to finish off and transform the flooring.
The old ply in the van was well past its best and was almost falling apart when removed. Once I removed the old Ply, I noticed some small cracks in the metal floor so the van was sent off to have these patches cut out & welded up. Once the van was returned to me with the flooring all fixed up, it was time to get the new flooring installed in the camper van. I used the old ply as a template for the new camprevan plywood flooring, drawing around the old ply to ensure a nice neat fit with the new flooring. Once the ply was cut to shape, I laid some XPS insulation directly to the van metal floor, then laid the plywood on top of this insulation. Once the plywood was fitted in the campervan, I then lay down a layer of UVA foam mats which offer extremely good insulation properties along wtih giving a soft feel to the feet rather than walking on hard ply. Once the UVA foam mats were laid down, I rolled out the altro flooring and cut that down to the same shape as the flooring. Once the altro was cut, I glued it down with Trim-Fix high temperature adhesive to make sure the flooring can't move once installed.
Once the full installation is complete, it transforms the look of the inside of the van from a grimy dirty mechanics van to a nice clean van ready for a campervan conversion.
