Today I try three Venezuelan rums from Santa Teresa: the original 1796, the Speyside Whisky Cask Finish and the new Arabica Coffee Cask Finish. I dive into the fairly complex production process of the base 1796 rum and then share tasting notes on all three rums. Then I try all three rums in a couple of cocktails: old fashioneds, manhattans and espresso martinis. How does a scotch finished rum hold up in an old fashioned? Does a coffee finished rum make for the ultimate espresso martini? Watch and find out.
