A purge unit is used with low pressure chillers to remove noncondensables from the refrigerant circuit. It has a chamber that is can separate the gases and pump out the trapped ones. These systems are also very useful when a chiller has had to sit off for extended periods of time or when recovering contaminated refrigerant.
