For the first time since I was in high school, I decided to perform a recital with pianist Jing Li. Thanks to my friends at Tarisio, I was able to use their largest room as a performance space. It may seem strange to perform a concerto with a reduction for piano as accompaniment--professionals today would never perform this way, and only students perform concertos this way. However, it was quite common in up to perhaps the 1970s for world-class violinists performing at Carnegie Hall and similar venues to put violin concertos on their programs.
The program for the second half of the recital was as follows:
Adagio from Bach Sonata for Violin in g minor, BWV 1001 (unaccompanied)
Brahms Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major
I. Vivace ma non troppo
II. Adagio
III. Allegro Molto Moderato
