New York City is the largest city in America, and home to the largest Jewish population int he world outside of Israel. In a city where Democrats control nearly every lever of power—and where nearly 60% of registered voters belong to the party—the June 24 primary will almost certainly decide who governs America’s most important metropolis. Its outcome will also have significant consequences for American Jewish life.
To explore the candidates and issues at stake, Jonathan Silver is joined by Jay Lefkowitz, senior partner at Kirkland & Ellis, adjunct professor at Columbia Law School, former U.S. special envoy on human rights in North Korea, and deputy assistant to President George W. Bush for domestic policy.
They discuss the candidates—including Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani—as well as the major issues at stake, including public safety, education reform, anti-Jewish violence, and what New York’s Jews should be thinking about as they head to the polls.
