Is This Place Better Than El Nido?

We were super unlucky with the weather in Palawan, as a typhoon forced us to change all our plans. With the ferry to Coron cancelled, we headed south to Port Barton—a hidden gem that wasn’t originally on our itinerary. Wow, are we glad we found it!

Port Barton is a quieter, more rural alternative to El Nido, with fewer tourists and a more laid-back atmosphere. Despite the rough tuktuk ride through ankle-deep mud, we made it to Coconut Beach, where we met friendly pigs, playful dogs, and relaxed under the shade of countless coconut trees. This is the perfect spot for anyone looking for a slower, more authentic beach experience in Palawan.

After enjoying the stunning beach, we discovered Pork Hub, a local roasted pork shop. Filipino roasted pork is a must-try, and it did not disappoint! We tucked into crispy, tender portions of pork—definitely one of the best meals we had during our trip.

We highly recommend adding Port Barton to your Palawan itinerary if you're looking for a quieter, less developed destination. It’s an unforgettable experience!
