🎯 Ingenious solution for the mainsail traveller on the First 30: discover how it simplifies sail adjustment!
In this video, we explore a smart and effective system for controlling the mainsheet, directly on board the spectacular First 30. Thanks to the advice of Neomarin expert Marco Ackler, we will see how this setup can improve your sailing experience, making it smoother, faster and more enjoyable.
⛵ Mainsheet: how it works on the First 30
We are sailing upwind with about 12 knots of wind and a constant speed of 6.6 knots. The position is that of the helmsman: rudder in the right hand and complete control of the mainsail with the left.
The mainsail management system is really interesting and consists of three main control points:
Blue cleat – the mainsail traveller:
Also called the boat's “throttle”, it allows you to adjust the position of the traveller. By bringing it upwind, we increase the upwind angle (“mode”), while by letting it go, we gain speed.
Mainsail sheet – direct adjustment:
Easy to manoeuvre, although with 30 m² of sail it can require some effort, especially in strong winds.
Red cleat – fine adjustment of the traveller:
This brilliant solution allows you to open or close the mainsail with two fingers, precisely and lightly, improving comfort and adjustment effectiveness, even in strong winds.
✅ Why is this system so useful?
Because it allows for easy and precise management of the mainsail, increasing safety and enjoyment when sailing. It is a perfect solution for those looking for uncomplicated performance.
