Lira high court has disposed off all the three election petitions which were filed after the January elections.
In the last petition that was dismissed with cost, Former state minister for housing Sam Engola had sought for court intervention to annul the declaration of Jonathan Odur as the duly elected MP for Erute South on claims that there was voter bribery, distribution of salt and hoes.
He also alleged that there were different results which were erroneously gazetted.
On 15th of January the returning officer declared Jonathan Odur with 9,000 votes against 6,169 votes polled by Sam Engola.
But later gazetted 17,763 votes for Odur and 15,606 votes for Sam Engola.
Although the judge noted that, the returning officer was excited and declared the winner without the final result, the result which was gazetted was final and did not contravene the law.
In response to counsel Isaac Okae and Geoffrey Komakech prayers for dismissal of the petition filed against their client Jonathan Odur, justice Vincent Emmy Mugabo dismissed the petition with cost to the second respondent.
