This goes with my gas peddle shaft bushing video. This cleans up the other half to smooth out and reduce sloppiness when stepping on peddle.

I found two areas a little worn. One was the thick washer next to the big spring. Earlier TR's may not have this return spring on the long connector rod. Mine does. This washer I noticed was oblong hole instead of perfectly round. It wasn't too bad but not something I have sitting in the garage either. The main bolt needs a bushing. When I pull on the rod I can see it moving around. The hole has enlarged itself over the years and moves around too much. It works but creates a little slop. I can stop the movement by tightening it but then its hard to move. Its not a good design here and could be improved if I had more time.

Overall much cleaner and smoother now.

Update: so I actually reinstalled the linkage on the car today as my rebuilt carbs came in. My main challenge was the long horizontal shaft with the ball joint on the end. I noticed when I connected to the gas peddle flange thing that the ball joint was no longer centered in its holder but cocked to one side a bit. I didn't like that. So that adjustment was a bit off. I thought I could adjust by loosening the nut on the left side by the long adjustment handle but that does not work. I had to break the nut loose next to the ball joint which was a pain being fully installed but I got it. Recentered the ball joint holder on the ball joint and then hooked back up painfully getting the small nut tight again with the smallest 3/8" wrench I could find. The other thing I did was move the coupling connections on the carbs to the right a bit so the vertical rod was more vertical. I thought it looked fine but looking back it had a pretty good angle to it.

Couple note: there are four very small bolts that holds it tight to the shafts. My car had two up and two down as shown in video. I can't figure out why it had this - totally stupid. Next time i'm in there i'm going to reverse the two on the left so the bolt heads are on the top with nuts on the bottom. That was someone else's mistake - previous owner maybe as its difficult to loosen being upside down.
