In this video, I visited two coastal fortresses in Shenzhen built in 1394. One was the site of government of Xin'an County established in the Ming Dynasty that covered both Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The other one was the origin of Shenzhen's nickname 鹏城. The first Opium War, the famous Kowloon Walled City and Fort Tung Chung near the Hong Kong International Airport could all be traced to the Dapeng Battalion stationed in Fort Dapeng.
