I had a situation where my Solarwinds server wouldn't upgrade because I was running MSDE 2014, and I needed something newer. Support wouldn't help me, so I was able to figure this out on my own, which saved me some time from having to rebuild my server.
We'll upgrade MSDE from 2014 to 2019 and install the latest version of SQL Management Studio 2019.
