💬 Recently I got a very interesting comment that got me thinking about an interesting topic. Should you make multiple games on the same genre or not?
Technically if your goal is financial success then this is a very wise strategy, by making multiple games in the same genre you grow your own knowledge of that genre, grow your own tools, and grow an audience that likes those games, hopefully making future success easier.
Examples of studios using this strategy are Two Point Studios, Zachtronics and PlayWay.
But, you might also want to simply make games you want to make. I've made a lot of Management games, but also Action games, Strategy games, etc.
Ideally you want both, find an idea that you want to work on AND matches a genre you're good at and is profitable.
