Labour's National Executive Committee, the NEC, has blocked Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham's bid to stand for the Gorton and Denton by-election.

The move has caused a furious row within Labour, with supporters of Mr Burnham accusing No.10 of 'factionalism'.
