I've been a part of this research but the main players have been PoorFishWife, NerdyJoe, Krolya and a few others.
We believe we've worked out the formula of how tainted mythic orbs work.
Orbs applied to bases without common (T4 or T5) uniques:
T0 unknown, about 1 in 2500
T1 about 0.6%
T2 about 1.25%
T3 about 7.5%
T4 about 35%
T5 about 50%
Orbs applied to bases with common uniques:
Calculate as above, but if all the uniques add to more than 50%, scale all chances down so the sum is 50%. Example, Iron Staff the chances add to 150%, but 50% is the limit, so divide the chances by 3 for all uniques.
Unfortunately, we do not know whether Aegis Aurora is Tier 1 or Tier 2. But most other tiers are known.
