Yule Wine is my favorite festive cocktail this time of year, but I don’t always want the alcohol that comes with it. This is my personal recipe for NA Yule Wine. This NA Yule Wine recipe is complex and packed full of flavor without the morning headache. Make a little ahead of time and store in the fridge for a late night midweek treat.
I sourced almost every ingredient from my local Aldi.
Ingredients List and Recipe Below:
Ingredients List:
Tart Cherry and Pomegranate Juice
Whole Cinnamon Sticks
White Peppercorns (can use Black Peppercorns)
Whole Cloves
(Optional: Whole Allspice Berries)
Raw Blue Agave (Optional: Honey)
Fresh Oranges
Non-Alcoholic Yule Wine Recipe:
Toast Your Mulling Spices:
With the stove off,
-Add 2 whole cinnamon sticks to a cool pan (or pot). I used a dutch oven.
-Add 20-25 whole white peppercorns. If you’re using black peppercorns, lower the amount to 10-15.
-Add 6-8 whole cloves.
(Optional: Add 4 whole allspice berries)
Once all spices have been added to the pan, turn on your stove top to medium. Gently swirl the spices in the pan so that all surfaces begin to “awaken” over heat.
Spices are ready for liquids to be added once the peppercorns start to move around on their own.
Add All Cherry Juice and 3/4c Water
(Optional: Add 3/4c of Apple Cider)
Add 2Tbs of Raw Blue Agave to mixture and stir. After a few minutes, test the mixture for sweetness. Add more sweetener if greater sweetness is desired, but at 2Tbs at a time so that you don’t accidentally “overdo it.” Overcorrecting sweetness may add too much bitterness in the end.
Watch for separation of mixture occurring in the pan. Stir ingredients occasionally.
Add 3 fresh orange slices to warm pan.
Bring mixture to a soft simmer to ensure all ingredients are not burning and are evenly dispersed in mixture.
Now bring mixture to a rolling boil.
Turn off heat and allow mixture to cool in the pan.
Once the mixture has cooled, strain mixture to remove whole seasonings. Store your NA Yule Wine in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Serve warm in a mug with fresh orang slice and whole cinnamon stick.
