It is no secret that the inclusion of this song in the set list was as a thank you from Elvis to the fans who had used their hard earned money to come and see him perform.
There was often a discernible difference in the crowds that attended an Elvis show in Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe compared to those during a regular tour date. This is more obvious when listening to audience recorded shows where the enthusiasm, for want of a better word, of the audiences is audible for all to hear. Audiences in the resorts were often made up of more than just fans, often many of those in attendance were gamblers wishing to see a show in between trying to “take the house”. For this reason, many of those audiences were often less than responsive.
It is therefore, of little surprise that at the conclusion of each tour show, it appears that Elvis gave “Can’t Help Falling In Love” just that little bit extra, during the final few notes in particular.
This compilation features one rendition from each tour between 1970 and 1974, excluding the single venue stints in Houston and Hawaii in 1970 and 1973 respectively.
