A visit to the belfry of Bethlehem's Central Moravian Church on May 20, 2016. We visit the 1856 bell and listen to it strike. The bell was cast in 1868. "BELL WEIGHS 1400 LBS. (headline in undated article) As stated briefly in the Globe-Times Thursday, the bell of Central Moravian church will not be sounded Sunday because of repairs being made to the mechanism. The shaft that holds the 1400 pound casting is out of order. The bell was received here on October 9, 1868, having been made by Maneely Co., of Watervliet, N. Y, There is 78 per cent of purest copper and 22 cent of imported block tin in the bell. The cost was $641.80 and today wouId cost about twice that figure."
