This hike took in the two northernmost Munros in Scotland.
We began late in the afternoon with Ben Hope. A steep start quickly opened up to stunning views over Loch Hope and the north coast. With barely a breeze, the midges made their first proper appearance of the season—relentless and in full force. We scrambled back to the car and headed towards the coast to find a wild camping spot.
The next morning, we set off early for Ben Klibreck, trying to stay ahead of the incoming weather. A boggy approach soon gave way to a decent path leading to the summit. Unfortunately, the clag never lifted, and we made a quick retreat—not a day for lingering on the tops.
Still, a great introduction to the far north of Scotland and good to get these remote outliers bagged.
