Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Remade in Super Mario Maker 2

ねぎちん defies expectations by using standard Super Mario items, rather than the Master Sword power-up, as the primary vehicle to recreate the mechanics of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in SMM2. Focusing on TotK's four main quests/temples, ねぎちん substitutes twisters for wind in the Rito quest, bob-ombs/fireflowers for Yunobo (and blue skull platforms for minecarts) in the Goron quest, and a winged boot for the reduced-gravity platforming in the Zora quest. Finally, in the most clever recreation, ねぎちん has the player reflect light in a dark area by bouncing superball projectiles off of "mirrors" (i.e., ice blocks), thereby replicating the Gerudo quest.

While ねぎちん's reimagined "Sky Temples" are not as mechanically interesting as their counterparts in the "Depths" (and yes, I'm aware that the Lightning Temple is not actually located in the Depths in TotK itself), one might argue that their reliance on platforming coupled with simple navigational puzzles accurately reflects the source material. (As a minor quibble, I'm not sure why ねぎちん's map places the Water Temple in the northwest "Sky" region, when it would make more sense to put the Wind Temple in that spot, especially considering that Death Mountain and the Gerudo Desert are both roughly where one would expect on the map of the "Surface".) In any case, as befits a tribute to the latest open world Zelda adventure, players are able to complete these four quests in any order or to ignore them entirely, as heading straight to Bowser/Ganon is always an option for the bold. That said, it certainly is not easy to defeat the Demon King without having first unlocked the sword that seals the darkness...
