What place does the body have in a path often framed as purely “Jnana” (knowledge)? In this unscripted talk I explore why the Direct Path benefits from real body work—sensing the body as awareness, rather than bypassing it. Drawing from Greg Goode’s After Awareness, Jean Klein’s somatic emphasis (informed by Kashmir Shaivism), and the lineage through Francis Lucille to Rupert Spira, we look at how sensations (touch, proprioception, sight) arise in awareness and can point us back to awareness.
This isn’t medicine—it’s a different vocabulary and goal. Biology is for surgery; this is for peace, clarity, and stability of understanding. But without integration, “I’m not the body” can become a brittle identity. Somatic inquiry helps the insight breathe, turning heaviness into a felt lightness—sometimes even a new dynamism in ordinary life (movement, dance, sport).
If you’re interested, I’ll record a guided version of this body-as-awareness exploration soon. Share your experiences or resources below.
