DAY 3: Hiking the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania
We’re slackpacking north of Pine Grove Furnace—and what a day! From being chased by a skunk for 45 minutes to navigating some of the rockiest, most confusing trail sections in PA, this was a day full of wild surprises, iconic landmarks, and unforgettable trail stories.

➡️ We hit Pine Grove Furnace State Park, skip the Half Gallon Challenge (no regrets!), explore Iron Masters Mansion Hostel, and visit the Appalachian Trail Museum—sort of. We also walk past the ceremonial halfway point of the AT and enjoy another amazing Fresh Ground meal.

But the highlight? That crazy skunk story from my post-military road trip days you don’t want to miss!
