This video details recovering from kidney donation surgery at home, from about 3 days to 8 weeks post operation.
I donated my right kidney in an open nephrectomy via a non-directed (stranger, or altruistic) donation. I wanted to share some of my findings and experience to a broad audience as I found a wide gap in discussion about becoming a living organ donor.
A legitimate reason for a cautious dissemination of information is that neither the medical institutions that perform transplants, who cannot appear coercive, nor persons that need a transplant, are in a strong position to advocate for living donation.
