This video is a detail overview of different filters in Tableau (includes context filters,context,datasource,extract filters). Just within the dimension and measure filters section - you will see quick filters, different control types, different ways to customize. There is also discussion on how we can do it #sql as well.


Even if you are already familiar with some (or many) of these, I hope you will still find these useful!


1. Create a Data source filter where Year=2019 . Build views on this. Year wise, Region wise sales .(Observe if you are getting values of other years or not)
2. Create a Normal filter where cateogry ='Furniture' and build view as cateogry wise sub cateogry wise sales.
a. Allow User to select only 1 Cateogry at a time.
b. Use Drop down view for filter
3. Display list of Sub cateogry items whose Sales is greater 10000
4. Create a filter on Region field in Sheet 1 and apply it to Multiple Sheets Sheet 2, sheet by creating views with Region,Cateogry and Sales
5. Show cateogry wise sales for Year = 2020 and Month= January.
6. Create 3 sheets
sheet1 = Category wise, sub category wise sales
sheet2 = Category wise, Region wise sales
sheet3 = Category wise, Segment wise sales

==. Create filter for Region at Data source level and consider only "North" and "South"
== Allow the end user to choose the filter Category items from sheet 1.
==. Drop the above 3 sheets in Dashboard and share the filter across all the sheets.

7. Create a view Region, Category and sales. Create a Calculated field as Zone
Zone : CASE [Region]
WHEN 'Central' then 'Zone1'
WHEN 'East' THEN 'Zone2'
ELSE 'Zone3'
END
show Zone and Region as Quick Filter. Change Zone filter type and allow user to select only 1 zone at a time. (Validate if Region filter drop down is working effectively when zone is selected or not). Hint: Cascading Filter
9. Display list of Customer whose sales is less than 2500
10.Display List of Customers whose Name is Starting with "S"
11.Display List of Sub categories which contain "O" in them.
12.Display the sales for Year=2017 and 'Central' Region.
13.Display the list of Customers whose sales is in between 5000 and 50000
14.Display sales for last 3 months of data where year=2019
15.Create two sheets as below
Sheet 1= Create Region wise sales
Sheet 2= Create Region wise, category wise Sales.
Drop the two sheets in Dashboard and allow user to select only 1 Region at a time. View should display data based on the region selected by user.
16.Display top 10 customers based on profit
17.Display bottom 10 customers based on sales
