In this video I continue travelling from Peterborough, Ontario to New York City. Everything goes sideways as soon as I enter Upper Manhattan. Better sooner than later. Learn, fix, move forward!
Issues that have come up:
Two hub motors in Bullitt tow bike creates additional force on hitch that needs to be accounted for in new hitch design / replacement.
Third motor is needed for mountains.
Total weight is actually different than I thought all along: Cyberdrop is 460 lbs full loaded, Bullitt (including me) is 490 pounds. Yes, it's a lot of weight, but it makes handling better. Transports and gusts don't move me off my track.
Cyberdrop head tube ovaling and resulting creaking sound was temporarily fixed using stainless steel shaft collar clamps (next video).
Schwalbe Pick-up tires are maybe too wide for my rim internal width. Keep getting pinch flats. Down the road, I may re-build the wheels with wider rims to support bigger tires. For now, rolling resistance is low and I go like the wind!
Cool factor - it's real. People come up all the time asking me about the Cyberdrop. I added QR codes to bring them here. I don't mind the repeated questions. I'm motivated by their enthusiasm!
See ya next time!
PS. If you can let me know if the video is bright enough / sound is ok... that would help me improve. Still learning the video editing side of things. Thanks!
Jeremiah
