5.2 Horizontal Design
5.2.1 Basic Curve Elements (e.g., Middle Ordinate, Length, Chord, Radius)
The back tangent for a horizontal curve has a bearing of N40°W. The PC of the curve is located at station 238+12.88 and has been assigned coordinates of: Northing: 10000; Easting 10000. The curve has a radius of 2,000 feet and Δ of 25° Left. Given this information, determine the coordinates of the centerline at station 244+00.
*** Equation Update: NCEES updated the equation used for this problem. The equation presented in this video at @2:24 requires an extra step to make it useful with the subsequent equations. Make sure to use the new equations that simplify the process.
