Happy 3/6 day fuckers!
I’d like to start by saying RIP to the QOM Gangsta Boo, Lord Infamous The Scarecrow, and Koopsta Knicca Da Cap Peala! Thank you DJ Paul & Juicy J for the years of hits and classics! I wouldn’t know how life would be without y’all. Being born and raised in the east coast in the lil city I’m from you can imagine the shit I had to deal with being the hardcore Three 6 fan I am. It all started over 20 years ago at around 8/9 years old watching music videos on BET and MTV and coming across the Sippin’ on some sizzurp video (RIP Pimp C) and I was instantly hooked. I’d come home from school and have the tv ready for that shit to come on. By the time Ridin’ Spinners dropped I knew this was my favorite group so I took whatever money I had from my allowance and begged my mom to take me to the record store. Once I bought the Unbreakables album shit was on from there. It was something about the grimyness, the beats, and the flows that were very different from the usual bullshit that played on the tv and radio at the time that attracted me. Going on triple-six.com back in the day helped me discover all their other albums. Any birthday money, Christmas money, allowance, whatever cheese I had I’d spend it on Three 6 Mafia albums. We I’d have my moms bring me to the record store every month. I’d go to school with the album covers tucked in the front of my binders hahaha keep in mind this is in the 7th grade. Moms had gotten me a 6 disc stereo system with the cassette tape combo and I remember spending hours listening to the albums and writing down the lyrics the best I could which looking back at it I had no idea what they were talking about as a kid so whatever I had wrote down was probably 50% wrong haha. (I even had a couple cds taken for a bit after I got caught blasting “Porno Movie” out loud at 12 years old lmao) Then I’d recite them and rap to the songs as I played them. I remember some of the girls in class always wanting me to rap slob on my knob ahahaha. Even would put other people onto Three 6 and they’d ask to borrow my portable cd player for the day during school too. Keep in mind this was all before YouTube was even a thing so all info I got was from that memphisrap.com and other blog sites website (the OG’s know what I’m talking about) and that’s how I discovered all their underground tapes and once YouTube was out tracks from various tapes of Paul and Juice would slowly start to leak on there. Can’t tell y’all how many hours and views I gave the og youtube channels between 06-08 that would upload tracks off their tapes. As I got older and after years of listening, collecting, and studying their music, spawned the next chapter of me making beats and as you can tell by my shit I was heavily inspired by them. Pretty much my idols to say the least. So to DJ Paul and Juicy J, thank y’all for the years of hits and creating a sound that could never be done 100% organically again. I tip my hat to y’all and hopefully get to chop it up with y’all one day (mainly Paul hahaha) and smoke a lil sum sum cuz I got so many questions and i never really fucked with the interviewers y’all had in the past cuz mutha fuckas don’t know their history. Like how you not know Project Pat is Juicy’s older brother this many years later? Anyways I’m out this hoe, shoutout to anybody who made it this far reading this shit haha y’all the truth. This shit will never stop this Three 6 shit forever! MAFIA!!!
