The Aquilla airways 1957 Crash was one of the world's worst air disasters and it was the most devastating aircrash on British Soil at the time. Even by today's standards, it was one of the most serious air accidents in the UK.
Aquilla Airways was an old British Airline holiday company that serviced trips to various islands and territories owned by Britain such as Gibraltar, Majorca and the cayman islands etc. In 1957 there was a devastating crash that claimed the lives of 45 of the 58 people on board. Today we visit the site of the Crash and tell you the story of what happened as well as a little exploration of some of the related sites on the Rural Isle of Wight
