Verse 1 & Chorus 1
In this version of the TWD Rarl story, Ron and Carl fall in love. After moving to Alexandria, Carl notices Ron and how damaged he is. Carl seeks him out and tries to help him through his pain.

Verse 2 & Chorus 2
Ron and Carl are happy for a brief moment while their love and friendship continue to grow. They meet each other’s families and friends, and Rick even gives Ron gun lessons. But there’s trouble when Rick finds out about their relationship.

Rick ambushes them with his worries that they’re too young and the world is too dangerous for them to be developing these feelings right now. Carl eventually relents, decides it’s best to go with his dad’s wishes, and postpones things with Ron until life is more settled.

Bridge
Ron resents Carl’s choice and being the sad, emotionally unstable man that he is, decides that if he can’t have Carl right now, no one can ever have him.

He sets out to kill Carl, but is stopped when the herd of walkers breaches the wall. But, like in the show, he seizes his other opportunity after seeing his family eaten alive. He turns the gun lessons against Rick and Carl, and ends up getting himself killed and leaving Carl one eye short.

Outro
But even being left injured, Carl still reflects on Ron and what they had and what could have been.

In the end, Carl chooses to reminisce on the good times and remember the love that he and Ron shared.
