Man With One Arm Thinks His EX-Wife Saved Him

While sharing the gospel at Las Olas Beach, we encountered a man with a missing arm. At first, his shirt made us laugh—it said, “My wife took my arm in the divorce.” But what started as a humorous encounter quickly turned into one of the most shocking conversations we’ve had.

This man didn’t just joke about his situation… he truly believed that his ex-wife had somehow paid the price for his salvation. In his eyes, her suffering and sacrifices were enough to make him right with God.

We couldn’t walk away without telling him the truth.

We explained that salvation doesn't come through a spouse, a parent, a priest, or good deeds, but only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. This life isn’t about just “being a good person” or hoping someone else can carry your sins. Every soul will stand before God—and only the blood of Jesus can save us.

In the same area, we also spoke to a young man playing basketball who heard the message and genuinely thanked us for speaking to him. Two very different reactions—one rejecting the truth, and the other receiving it with humility.
