“Whispers of Water and Spring” — a live performance by Temple Rat (梅郁鑫) captured in film by Wai Kung.
Berlin-based composer and Erhu player Temple Rat @meiyuxinmay presented a meditative live set composed of Erhu, modular synths, and field recordings. Drawing on Taoist philosophy and Tang poetry, the performance unfolds as an ambient ritual — tracing the cyclical movement of water, memory, and time. This performance was part of the Open-air Chinese Film Nights #3 on June 6, 2025 at The Feuerle Collection.
Fusing traditional Chinese instruments with contemporary sonic languages, Temple Rat creates immersive soundscapes that dissolve boundaries between past and present, ritual and rave. Her performances have been featured at Berghain, Art Biesenthal, and Boiler Room Shanghai.
Wai Kung is a Berlin-based filmmaker and film curator with Hakka roots from Hong Kong. Her creative and curatorial practices focus on the intersections of female experience, memory, and diasporic identity, set against shifting histories and cultural landscapes, exploring the tension between personal narratives and structural forces. She approaches cinema as a poetic space for cross-cultural dialogue and emotional resonance.
The event was presented by The Feuerle Collection and CiLENS e.V.
With the generous support of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
