Possibly the greatest version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog on Genesis/Mega Drive, Sonic the Hedgehog Forever.

Using the port of the original 2013 port on mobile as a base(thanks to Christian Whitehead), it is a fan-made PC remake of the original game that includes numerous enhancements, such as widescreen support, a smoother frame rate, and more extensive options and customization. It adds features like the Insta-shield and Super Peelout, a better save system, the ability to play with Tails from the start, along with being able to play as Knuckles and Amy with their full and complete movesets, offering a more modern and feature-rich experience compared to the original.

It's extensive mod support also allows for further customization and the mod that I'm showcasing is an example of that which is Sonic 1 Forever Extended. This mod adds the Master System levels to the game: Bridge, Jungle, Sky Base and a brand new level: Rocky Mountain.
