Marshmallow mug hats perfect for June

In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through two adorable summer-inspired patterns:
🧶 A Bee Hat – complete with antennae and wings!
🧶 A Sun Hat – finished with a ribbon and flower detail!

Stitch Abbreviations:
mc – magic circle
ch - chain
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
hdc – half double crochet
tr – treble/triple crochet - yarn over twice, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and draw yarn through stitch (4 loops on), yarn over and draw through 2 loops (3 loops remaining), yarn over and draw through 2 loops (2 loops on), yarn over and draw through the last 2 loops on the hook.
Reverse sc/crab stitch (if you are right-handed) – working to the right instead of the left as usual, insert hook in the stitch you just finished, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. It is a regular single crochet, but backward.

Bee hat pattern:
When finishing each row, complete the last stitch with the new color. Do not tie off colors but carry them up the back.
With G 4 mm hook and Black yarn
row 1 – in Black - mc and place 8 hdc in the mc, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (8)
row 2 – in Yellow - 2 hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (16)
row 3 – in Black - (hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (24)
row 4 – in Yellow - (2 hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 5 – in Black - hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 6 – in Yellow - hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 7 – in Black - hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 8 – in Yellow - hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 9 – in Black - hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (32)
row 10 – in Yellow - sc in each stitch around, sl st to the first sc, ch 1 (32)
row 11 – in Yellow – reverse sc in each stitch around (32)
Finish off and use a tapestry needle to go under the first stitch of the row with your yarn tail and close the gap.
Weave in ends.

Bee wing pattern:
With White yarn
H hook
All the stitches will be done in the same magic circle.
First wing - mc, ch 4, 4 tr, ch 4, sl st in the mc
Second wing - ch 4, 4 tr, ch 4, sl st in the mc
Finish off leaving a 10 in long tail.
Wrap both the starting and ending tails around the center of the wings and knot at the back. Weave in the ends.
Glue wings to the back of the bee hat at around row 5.

Sun hat pattern:
With G 4mm hook and Toasted Almond yarn
row 1 – mc and place 8 hdc in the mc, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (8)
row 2 – 2 hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (16)
row 3 – (hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (24)
row 4 – (2 hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (32)
row 5 – (hdc in the next 7, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (36)
rows 6-8 – hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (36)
row 9 – hdc in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 1 (36)
row 10 – sl st in each stitch around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (36)
row 11 – (2 hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (48)
row 12 – (3 hdc, 2 hdc in the next) repeat around, sl st to the first hdc, ch 2 (60)
