Who knew that a commonly prescribed family of antibiotics that includes Cipro and Levaquin can cause tendon rupture, mental health issues, including dissociation, peripheral neuropathy as well as wide spread muscle pain and weakness to the point of paralysis? This line of antibiotics now has several back box warnings on it and the FDA has recommended that it not be prescribed for things like UTIs and stomach bugs when other much safer antibiotics can do the trick. Sadly, many doctors are not aware of these warnings and continue to prescribe them unnecessarily.
