The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is basically a mashup of the 3 Series sedan, 3 Series Touring wagon and the 4 Series coupe. Don’t overthink it, though, because in the real world, the fastback form factor works really well. It’s slick like a sedan but allows you to load stuff into the boot — and fit child seats — far more easily than with a conventional four-door.
You can spec the 2022 4 Series Gran Coupe with three petrol engines and two electric powertrains here in Australia. The electric version is called the i4.
Key rivals to the 4GC are the Audi A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback, plus the Kia Stinger.
