S4#18. Storm Jib vs Staysail - Is it a Waste of money???

This week we share the discussion about storm sails and stay sails for our Portofino 52. With the launch date soon after Christmas we need to make the choices to ensure they can be made and shipped to Dubai in time...

So are storm jibs a waste of money for catamarans and what are the advantages and limitations of stay sails??? We have discussion with Paolo Cappellini from One Sail, Paolo Pizzi and Raffaele Rognoni from Portofino!

We also take you through our ongoing sailing journey through Crete on our Leopard 45 catamaran where we face 30-40 knot winds every 3 days so have challenging times finding safe anchorages. However, we still get to have fun and explore lovely little Cretan towns, this time Eloundra, just south of Spinalonga Island. We found an amazingly well stocked chandlery in the town - and what sailor does not love a good chandlery???

We also share the rattling forward hatch and our fix for it, and show you the thick red dust that settles on boats in the Med, blown across from the Sahara....
