This is the easiest way I have found to start growing sugarcane in the UK. Please like, subscribe and share. I go in search of Caribbean and Asian market stalls and stores for pieces of sugarcane with viable eyes/buds that cand be used to start growing sugarcane. I use the wet tissue in sealed plastic bag method to start sprouting the buds and primary roots of the sugarcane cuttings. The sprouted cuttings are then placed in water for further primary root growth and growth of secondary roots to the base of the growing sugarcane bu. Once there is sufficient bud and root growth, the cutting with the growing bud is planted in compost for final growth before planting out in the garden around the second week in May into larger containers.
