Do fans love LIVE versions more? ...BAND-MAID + LOVEBITES

Frequently I hear that the LIVE VERSION is the one to listen to. Especially for BAND-MAID and LOVEBITES, but also for a range of artists.
But are we underselling what a studio recording offers us?
Are we just giddy for more of what we love and leaving behind the original?
Or are they genuinely just better?
