Tasmanian tiger or thylacine sightings have been frequently reported, in Tasmania and in Australia alike. The thylacine’s elusive nature combined with Tasmania’s vast wilderness allow for a possibility that the carnivorous marsupial still survives to the present day. Numerous searches and investigations tried to prove this optimism.
However, it seems that our fondness about the idea of the existence of thylacines today isn’t enough to undo the damage we did, through the large-scale bounties we established to rid the island off the thylacines a few hundred years ago.
