Lush Green Igatpuri to Kasara Ghat Section by Sewagram Express in Monsoon!

This is a special upload for my subscribers of the beautiful Kasara Ghat near Igatpuri in Maharashtra. I wanted to present this one again as my previous video for this same area received a wonderful response. I decided to present a monsoon version of the same to show the wonderful lush green scenery of this beautiful ghat area.

The movie begins with departure from Igatpuri Railway Station where most of the lengthy trains have a halt for attaching brakers especially for the ghats. The territory from Igatpuri till Mumbai CST is fully ACified so my train 12140 Nagpur - Mumbai CST Sewagram Express which was powered by a BSL WAP-4 till Igatpuri(IGP) was now headed by 2 Live KYN WAG-7 as brakers from IGP till Kasara. The KYN WAG-7 were attached for braking purpose as the ghat section ahead has steep slopes and UP gradients which needs proper braking and more power for pulling longer trains.

The train moved forward starting from Igatpuri and you can see a train attached with 3 KYN WAG-7 locos attached at its rear as bankers. The train was 17617 Tapovan Express.

We also met a mixed duet of Tiger faced WAG-7 and an AC converted WCAM-2P loco from Kalyan (KYN) Electric Loco Shed.

We finally pulled out of Igatpuri and continued our journey into the Ghat Section which displays some really wonderful scenes including some really tall bridges and tunnels. You can see the tracks cutting the mountains and going through tunnels. This is the speciality of this ghat section which boasts of some really old tunnels and the tracks in this area are placed and engineered to perfection! The entire route looked very scenic and lush green as monsoon was at it peak in the Month of July. Some mountains can be seen covered with clouds which tells us that we are actually pretty much above the sea level. The famous catch sidings in this route were entirely covered with lush green grass.
