JEE/CBSE/ISC|| C-11th Circle || Position Of Point With Respect To A Circle

In the chapter “Circle” of CBSE Class 11 Maths, we discuss the position of point with respect to a circle and position of line with respect to a circle.

To determine the position of a point with respect to the circle, we need to put the value of the point in equation of circle. There will be only three possible cases, firstly the value will be negative, second it could be positive or it can be zero.

In order to find the position of line with respect to the circle, we need to find the distance of the line from the centre. If the length comes out to be less than the radius, then the line will be intersecting, in case the distance is equal to the radius, then the line will be tangent. If the distance is more than the radius, then line will be non-intersecting.
