This time on SPPTV we are back at RFG and Rob's Turbo 5.3 LS S-10 Project continues to come back together! The front end and engine bay are finished, minus a few finishing touches including brake lines. It is time to prepare the $300 Junkyard 5.3 L33 all aluminum factory GM race engine.
Rebuilding a set of cylinder heads does not cost that much, at least if you follow the RFG junkyard engine procedure! Most people upgrade valve springs at the same time they add a performance camshaft. Rob found a great deal online for some Trick Flow valve springs that are re-branded PAC springs.
The heads are cleaned and prepped, and threads for a mechanical coolant temperature gauge are tapped on the previously plugged passenger side head. All of this work is fairly straight forward, and worth while to do when your heads are off the engine.
Next episode the cylinder heads are installed with everyone's favorite torque wrench! Subscribe now to get notifications when new videos come out!
