Very rare 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL320 40th Anniversary Edition for sale with only 54,000 miles. This is a fantastic, rare appreciating post-modern classic Mercedes-Benz ready to enjoy now. This limited edition R129 was purchased new from Smothers European in July of 1997 with a retail price of $80,195. Only the 40th Anniversary cars came finished in Quartz Blue Metallic with a Navy Blue soft top, grey leather interior with special '40th Anniversary Roadster Edition' floor mats, and Royal Maple wood trim. This example includes its original embossed "40th Anniversary Roadster" pouch with books, manuals, two sets of keys, a radio code card a plethora of service records, and a clean Carfax report. The car was originally titled in Santa Rosa, California then shipped and re-titled to the owner's vacation home in Hawaii for a few years then brought back and re-titled in Santa Rosa. It was recently transferred to a family member. Because of this, the Carfax report shows 4 owners.

The cabin features gray leather with matching carpets and door panels accented by a dark gray dashboard with Royal Maple wood trim on the center console and door panels. Appointments include 40th Anniversary floor mats, power-adjustable heated seats with position memory, automatic climate control, cruise control, a heated rear hardtop window, AM/FM/cassette Bose stereo system with a six-disc CD Changer, and a retractable roll bar designed to automatically deploy in the event of a rollover. The leather is soft and supple throughout with just some light scuffing on the driver's side bolster. The beautiful Royal Maple wood trim (only available in the 40th-anniversary edition) is immaculate. The rugs, panels, mats, and gauges all are in wonderful shape. The air conditioning blows ice cold and the heating/climate system functions properly. The trunk is clean and complete with a spare, cover and proper stowaway for the removable windscreen. This is a remarkably comfortable car, especially for long road trips.

The Quartz Blue Metallic finish has been well-preserved having spent its life indoors. The paint has a deep shine and shows well. The glass, trim, rubber, and badging all look fantastic. It still has its original factory 16" Mercedes wheels. The blue cloth soft top is original and was barely used and the rear window is clear with excellent visibility and the stitching is tight and tidy. The matching hardtop and headliner are in excellent condition as well.

The 3.2-liter M104 I6 engine features 24 valves and was factory rated at 228 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. It starts and runs beautifully. The automatic 5-speed transmission shifts through all of the gears effortlessly and the suspension and braking are excellent. Anti-lock disc brakes and a traction control system were standard equipment and work exactly as intended. This is a wonderful and comfortable car in excellent mechanical condition.
